8 Miles from Barnsley to
Darton & Back
Saturday 24th September 2016
We are this year raising money for
Barnsley Animal Rescue Charity (BARC)
. Events so far have included the May Beer Festival at Elsecar Heritage Railway and our recent #ElsecarByTheSea Beer Festival at Milton Hall in Elsecar.
We meet at the Keel Inn, Canal Street, Barnsley (Nr ASDA) at 12 noon for a 12.30pm departure. We will be walking from here to the Rose and Crown at Darton going out via the Millers Inn at Low Barugh and returning via the Talbot Inn at Mapplewell.
Below are map(s) for a dry walk and a wet walk. We hope the weather will be good on the day but some parts of the route can be affected by weather from days before. Information on what route will be taken will be announced at 12.20pm at the Keel Inn, before we set off.
You can request your sponsor form by email
and a copy can be posted or emailed to you. If you arn't planning to get sponsorship please consider a donation to our charity on the day.
The pubs on route all know we are coming and have said that dogs are allowed in the pub (some in certain areas only) e.g. Keel Inn, are OK in the back room during food times.
Rough times have been given to the pubs on our arrival, so please, do not rush, it isn't a race. We have pace walking stewards at the front and back, please do not get too far in front of the front walking stewards. As for the back, Nigel Croft (me) will always be the last person into each check-point (Pubs) and will walk at the same pace as anyone with me. I will also be the last person to finish the walk.
We hope you all have a great time on the walk.
