PUB DESCRIPTION :
Standing on one of the main gateways into town, this is how the pub got its name. An open-plan interior has wood floors and tasteful décor. Popular with a 30+ crowd, a large screen TV shows free-to-view sporting events. Robert Rudge who turned the pub into a real ale haven left as licensee in July 2008, however the current manageres is keeping up with offering the real ale drinkers some good real ales.

BEERS : Five real ales with Acorn Barnsley Bitter and Theakstons Old Peculier as permanents.
