E&S Fine Ales - Elland Brewery Ltd
Eastwood & Sanders Fine Ales Limited has been brewing at its Elland site since the company was established in April 2002 and to reinforce its close links with the town, on 1st July 2006 the company was renamed Elland Brewery Limited.
The Brewery was built in Elland at the time E & S was created by the amalgamation of two of Yorkshire's leading micro-breweries, The West Yorkshire Brewery and The Barge and Barrel Brewery Company.
"Since moving to the brewery, the company has significantly increased its range of beers and has become established as one of the North's leading micro-breweries." said Tim Drake, Managing Director. "We have a portfolio of over thirty cask conditioned beers, milds, stouts, porters and lagers which are sold all over the North of England the West Midlands and as far south as the country's capital, London." A regular outlet for the beers in Barnsley is the Cherry Tree at High Hoyland.
To celebrate the new company name, the Brewery's flagship Best Bitter is to be called Elland Best Bitter and Head Brewer, David Sanders, has slightly modified the brew. "Hopefully our customers will enjoy the new beer which is made with Maris Otter Pale Malt and a blend of English and American Hops," said David "and I guarantee regular drinkers that Elland Best Bitter retains all its original characteristics as a dry and aromatic beer with a strong aroma and pronounced bitter flavour."
"The industry has seen many micro-breweries come and go over recent years, but by renaming the company Elland Brewery Limited this will strengthen our regional identity within Calderdale and Yorkshire" said Tim Drake "and furthermore this represents a clear sign of our long-term commitment to both Elland and brewing."
