Beer List 2007

Please find below the "wish list" for this years beer festival. This is the order we have placed and I am assured that every effort will be made to have these beers arrive on time in readiness for the festival opening on Thursday 18th October at 6pm.
Any changes will be made as and when we know of them.

THE BEER LIST 2007

Abbey
Bath - The only brewery in the city of Bath

Bellringer 4.2% abv
A hoppy, amber/gold ale. Light-medium bodied, clean tasting, dry with a balancing sweetness. Citrus, pale malt aroma and a dry bitter finish.
Steeple Jack 4.7% abv
This beer is brewed to celebrate the breweries 10th year. The breweries first beer “Bellringer” came out in October 1997.

Abbeydale
Sheffield - Founded in 1996 by Patrick Morton and his father Hugh

Black Mass 6.66% abv
A very dark ale, aroma of chocolate, coffee and burnt toast. Flavours of chocolate and fruitcake, a bitter finish.

Acorn
Wombwell - Barnsley - Success story, and doubled in size in August 2007

Barnsley Bitter 3.8% abv
Brewed using finest quality Maris Otter malt and English hops. Chestnut in colour, having a well-rounded, rich flavour, it retains a lasting bitter finish.
Northdown Blonde 4% abv
As the name suggests blonde in colour and brewed using Northdown hops which give a rich, crisp fruity aroma.
Barnsley Gold 4.3% abv
This award-winning golden beer has good bitterness levels, with a fresh citrus and hop aroma.
Old Moor Porter 4.4% abv
A full bodied Victorian style porter with hints of liquorice. The initial bitterness gives way to a smooth, mellow finish.
Sovereign 4.4% abv
A Ruby coloured premium bitter, with well balanced flavours of roast malt, fruit and hops.
Pilgrim IPA 5% abv
The latest in the breweries quest to brew an IPA with most UK hops. No prizes for guessing which variety they are using in this brew.

Cheddar Ales
Cheddar - Brewery set up in 2007 by former Butcombe brewer.

Best Bitter 4% abv
Noticeably bitter ale with hints of caramel and an astringent finish.
Potholer 4.3% abv
Amber malty best bitter, biscuity aroma and citrus in the mouth. Bitter fruit aftertaste.

Clarks
Wakefield - Founded in 1906 and recently celebrated its centenary.

Classic Blonde 3.9% abv
A light-coloured ale with a citrus and hoppy flavour, a distinctive grapefruit aroma and a dry finish.
Rams Revenge 4.6% abv
A rich, ruby-coloured premium ale, well- balanced with malt and hops, a pleasant a hoppy aroma with a deep fruity taste and dry hoppy aftertaste.

Doghouse
Redruth (Cornwall) - Brewery set up in a former dog rescue kennel.

Collywobble 5.8% abv This brand new strong ale is not listed in the tasting notes in either the CAMRA Good Beer Guide, or the SIBA tastings list.

Elland
Elland - Renamed from E&S to reinforce its links with the town.

Goldrush 4.6% abv
Creamy golden ale. Aromatic, hoppy aroma, clean freash fruity taste, followed by a powerful dry bitter finish.

Leeds
Leeds - The Leeds brewery is the only independent brewery in Leeds.

Leeds Best 4.3% abv
A classic Yorkshire Bitter. Finest English hops blend perfectly with our unique Yorkshire yeast to create a full flavoured beer with a superb hoppy finish.

Milk Street
Frome - Formed in 1999 and expanded in 2006 to 25 barrels a week.

Witching Hour 4.5% abv
A special premium beer brewed for the witches, demons and ghosts as well as the festival drinkers. No tasting notes.
Harvest Home 4.6% abv
And another new beer from the brewery so again, sorry no tasting notes.

Moor
Bridgewater - Started 1996 on a dairy farm, doubled capacity in 2006

Revival 3.8% abv
An immensely hoppy and refreshing bitter.
Ported Peat Porter 4.7% abv
Dark/black with an initially fruity taste leading to a roast malt bitterness, a slight sweet malty finish. Note tasting notes for Peat Porter so add a hint of port to the sensation.
Old Freddy Walker 7.3% abv
Rich, dark, strong ale with a fruit complex taste, leaving a fruitcake finish.

RCH
Weston-Super-Mare - Originally started in the 80s moved & grown since.

Hewish IPA 3.6% abv
Light, hoppy bitter with some malt and fruit. Floral citrus hop aroma, pale brown amber in colour.
Old Slug Porter 4.5% abv
Chocolate, coffee, roast malt and hops with lots of body and dark fruits. A complex, rich beer, dark brown in colour.
East Street Cream 5% abv
Pale brown strong bitter. Flavours of roast malt and fruit with a bittersweet finish. Originally brewed for the Dartmouth Inn Pub on East Street, Newton Abbot, the beer became so popular everyone wanted it.

Salamander
Bradford - Brewery set up in a former pork pie factory in 2000

Buffoon 3.8% abv
A brand new refreshing hoppy bitter.
Goliath 5% abv
Another new beer, sorry no notes.

Saltaire
Shipley - New brewery in an old powerhouse for the old tram network

Amarillo 4.4% abv
Yet another new beer with no tasting notes, but if the beer is using the Amarillo hops then we should have a citrus (orange, lemon and even grapefruit ) aroma as well as flavour but not bitter.

Yeovil
Lufton - Set up in 2006 with an 18 barrel plant.

Glovers Glory 3.8% abv
This beer has a complex taste profile benefiting from several hop varieties. It has a well balanced bitterness with fruity, slightly spicy orange and blackcurrant notes. The distinctive aroma character comes from Yeovil Ales late hop brewing style.
