In an era where all new or refurbished pubs all seem to have the same Gastro theme, the reopening of a traditional local is a ref reshing change. What’s more refreshing as a real ale lover is a keg free traditional local with eight rotating real ales. That’s exactly what Rodger and Kris Smith have done with the Station Inn at Darfield.
As the name suggest the pub lies at the side of the former railway line close to the former Darfield station. The pub closed a while ago whilst The Goldmine. This impressive
pub remained derelict until it was taken over by Rodger and Kris. With lots of hard work they have brought the pub back to its former glory and created one the best free houses in the
area.
Old photographs of Darfield adorn the walls, and the new cast iron fireplace gives the pub a cosy feel. The pub is a real ale paradise dispensing eight real ales all in lined glasses and
no Keg beer! The beers are sourced from local and national breweries. The pub also has its own locally brewed house beer Station Master 4.8% abv. A large range of continental beers are also served in their own unique glasses.
Within the next few weeks Rodger and Kris hope to start offering traditional pub food. They have recently given the beer garden a makeover and added new picnic tables. So if you crave for a great traditional pint try the Station you’ll not be disappointed.
