The Barnsley branch of CAMRA of today has been around for 28 years, having newly reformed in 1980, however its first generation's inaugural meeting was held at the Ash Inn, Wombwell on 25th May 1974 - to plan the march against the closure of Oakwell Brewery. Today's branch has around 260 members. We hold regular branch meetings and socials as well as monthly pub crawls (we are a very sociable bunch) - so why not come along and join us and do your bit to preserve real ale.
Next time you're out, drink a pint of this wonderful cool refreshing flavoursome drink, and avoid the cold (sometimes freezing) dead tasteless fizz...
For information on membership details, national campaigning issues and the CAMRA shop etc, visit the CAMRA HQ homepage by using the link at the top right of our pages at anytime.
We always welcome new members and non members at our socials trips and events, we don't have many events that are members only and this is usually the AGM and survey trips with limited seating. If you are keen to find out more about our activities, help out at our beer festival or just want to join us on a pub crawl then send us an E-mail,call us using these numbers or come along to one of our socials/meetings or beer festival.
We hope you like our website and we look forward to meeting you in a local pub soon.
